(A) Officers and employees of the town shall be entitled to be reimbursed for use of privately-owned automobiles in furtherance of their municipal duties or other lawfully authorized business of the town. The per mile reimbursement rate shall be equal to the rate established by the United States Internal Revenue Service for business travel and in effect at the time of the qualifying travel.
(B) When funds have been appropriated therefor, the payments shall be made to the officer or employee entitled to the same upon presentment and approval by the Town Council of a proper claim.
