§ 34.28 EXEMPTIONS FROM RETIREMENT PLAN.
   Any person who is a town employee at the time this subchapter becomes effective may be exempted from the retirement plan by filing a written application for exemption in duplicate with the Town Clerk- Treasurer, and a copy thereof shall be transmitted to the Board of Trustees by the officer, the written application for exemption to be filed before September 1, 1949. Any town employee which has exempted himself or herself from membership in the retirement plan may, at his or her option, at any later date, apply for membership therein, and upon approval of the application by the Board of Trustees and payments to cover the membership by the employee and the town, the employee shall be entitled to all rights and privileges and shall be charged with all the duties and liabilities herein provided; provided, however, that only the service of the town employee rendered after the time of the membership shall be allowed by the Board of Trustees in computing retirement benefits.
