(A) The Chief of Police shall no longer be an official appointed by the Mayor and approved by the Board of Trustees; the Chief of Police, rather, shall be a regular town employee, selected by and subordinate to the Town Manager.
(B) The Police Department shall no longer be supervised by the Mayor; that department, rather, shall be supervised by the Town Manager through its chain of command with the Chief of Police being head of the department and subordinate to the Town Manager.
(C) It shall be the duty of the Police Chief to see that all ordinances and resolutions passed by the Board of Trustees are promptly and effectually enforced.
(D) It shall be his or her duty, with or without process, to apprehend any person found disturbing the peace or offending against any ordinance of the town, and forthwith to take the person before the Justice of the Peace to be dealt with as provided by ordinance.
(E) The Police Chief shall be the principal ministerial officer of the town and shall have the same power that sheriffs and constables of the state have by law, co-extensive with the county in cases of violation of the town ordinances and for offenses committed within the limits of the town.
(F) He or she shall execute all process of the Mayor and Chairperson of the Board of Trustees and all process issued in the name of the town.
(G) He or she shall receive compensation for his or her services as the Board of Trustees shall from time to time prescribe, and no more, and the same fees as are allowed constables by law of the state shall be collected by the Police Chief for the service and execution of process of the town and paid into the general fund of the town.
