(A) Applicable variances. Variances or waivers from requirements of the zoning ordinance may be considered by the Zoning Board of Appeals where, in the case of a particular proposed subdivision, it can be shown that strict compliance with the requirements of this chapter would result in extraordinary hardship to the proprietor because of unusual topography or other physical conditions which are not self-initiated or that these conditions would result in inhibiting the achievement of the objectives of this chapter, a variance may be granted.
