6-2-9: COMPRESSION BRAKES:
   A.   Definitions: As used in this section, the following terms shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this subsection:
    BRAKE: Any device used for allowing, halting or stopping the movement of any vehicle.
   COMPRESSION BRAKES: Motor vehicle brakes which are activated or worked by the compression of the engine of the motor vehicle. (1996 Code §§ 1.04.050, 1.04.110)
   B.   Use Restricted:
      1.   Nuisance: The use of compression brakes within the corporate limits of the city disturbs the peace and quiet and disturbs the residents of the city in their rest and in the enjoyment of their property; and, by reason thereof, the city council finds that the use of such brakes in such area is a public nuisance. (1996 Code § 10.08.010)
      2.   Use Prohibited; Exception: The use of compression brakes within the corporate limits of the city is prohibited, except in the case of an emergency, when use of said compression brakes is necessary to safely stop the subject motor vehicle. (1996 Code § 10.08.020)
   C.   Signs: The city manager shall erect appropriate signs indicating the restriction in the area described in this section of the use of compression brakes. (1996 Code § 10.08.030)
