§ 36.07  COMMUNITY CORRECTIONS PROGRAM.
   (A)   Approval is hereby given to the Sheriff of the county, pursuant to I.C. 11-12-5-1, to begin organization and operation of a community corrections program pursuant to said statutory section wherein it is approved that the Sheriff may require persons confined in the county jail upon conviction of a crime to work on the public streets, highways, parks and other public lands, buildings or facilities within the county under the direction and supervision of the Sheriff of the county, and/or another appointed officer of the County Police Department.
   (B)   In the event that said inmates are assigned to work on premises and locations away from the county jail, it shall be the responsibility of the Sheriff and the County Police Department, to supervise the work activities of said inmates and to be responsible for their job assignments and behavior while in the community away from the jail facility.
   (C)   The Sheriff of the county is prohibited from delegating the responsibility of supervising such inmates during any of the work assignments for which this approval is given, specifically during the performance of any work assignments by inmates pursuant to I.C. 11-12-5-1(a) and (b)(1) and (2);
   (D)   The Sheriff is hereby authorized to seek appropriate funds from the County Council, pursuant to I.C. 11-12-5-1, for purposes of establishing and implementing the work program described in I.C. 11-12-5-1(b)(2).
