Plumbing installations shall make provisions for water meters as follows:
A. Location: All meters must be set within the building which they are intended to serve unless otherwise approved in writing by the Director of Public Works or his/her designee. They must be made secure from front and located at a readily accessible place approved by the Director of Public Works or his/her designee. The service connection and the house supply piping must be arranged so that the meter will be set as near the point where the service pipe enters the building as is possible.
B. Valves; Protection: A valve must be installed inside the building between the meter and the main. The valve shall be located as low as the meter connection to provide for draining pipe and meter. Provision shall be made to protect the meter against scalding by hot water backing up in the building piping.
C. Supervision: All water meters shall be set and removed by the Village under the supervision of the Director of Public Works or his/her designee. No plumber or other person shall remove or disturb any water meter without first obtaining written permission from the Director. (Ord. 18-03-05)
