A. By Village: All taps in the Village water mains shall be made in accordance to Village procedures set by the Director of Public Works or his/her designee. The fee for a meter tap will include the cost of the services of the Village in making the tap.
B. Fees: All corporation cocks, shutoff cocks, and boxes, as well as special wye fittings for use in connection with service pipes and meters, shall be furnished by the Village, and payment therefor shall be included in the fee for a water tap. The fees for such taps shall be as provided for in schedule S9 of this Code.
C. Specifications: Water service connections shall be constructed in accordance with the standards promulgated by the American Water Works Association.
D. Depth: Service pipe must be so laid as to leave at least four feet (4') of earth over the top of the pipe at all points. Pipes must be laid on solid ground from the main to the meter in the premises to be supplied.
E. Shutoff Box: The shutoff box must be located in a direct line with the tap in the main, eighteen inches (18") from the sidewalk in the parkway, having a cast iron cover with the letters "water" cast thereon. The shutoff box shall not be located within pavement unless the Director of Public Works or his/her designee gives written permission.
F. Support: Before filling the trench, the service at the street main must be properly supported and the earth must be well compacted under and around the main to a level with the top thereof.
G. Inspection: No water service connection from the main to the meter shall be covered at any point until an inspection has been made and the installation approved by the Director of Public Works or his/her designee. (Ord. 18-03-05)
