A. Director Of Community Development; Position Created: There is hereby created the office of community development director, as appointed by the village president with the advice and consent of the board of trustees.
B. Powers And Duties: The director of community development is responsible for reviewing, recommending and enforcing governmental regulations affecting and controlling land use, building, housing, public facilities and transportation systems in an organized effort to guide community development and renewal. The director of community development shall be responsible for coordinating engineering, structural and architectural plan review for all private construction projects. Duties also include the review of all plans for conformance to all applicable zoning codes.
C. Responsibility To Serve As Building Official: The director of community development serves as the village building official in relation to the enforcement of model international building codes adopted by the village with local amendments, as described in chapter 21 of this code, and performs all duties in relation to that office being responsible for reviewing, recommending and enforcing governmental regulations affecting and controlling building, housing, and public facilities in an organized effort to guide community development and renewal. Duties also include examining or transmitting for examination blueprints or specifications for new, remodeled or renewed buildings and accessory structures and review of all plans for conformance to all applicable building, plumbing, electric and life safety codes. The director interprets, administers and enforces codes pertaining to the construction, repair or maintenance of all structures and their proper inspection.
D. Additional Duties: The director shall perform special projects and such other duties as assigned and required. (Ord. 15-04-27)
