The storage of flammable liquids, including gasoline, diesel fuel, kerosene, LP gas or propane and any other flammable liquid in aboveground storage tanks is prohibited within the Village limits, except in quantities of twenty five (25) gallons or less. Any persons wishing installation or removal of an aboveground storage tank for the storage of flammable liquids shall obtain a permit issued by the Chief of the Fire Prevention Bureau or his/her designee(s). Permit applications can be obtained from the Fire Prevention Bureau at the Fire Department during normal business hours.
Liquid propane tanks used primarily for outdoor grills may be stored in locked cages outside of retail occupancies in a location approved by the Chief of the Fire Prevention Bureau.
Commercial liquid propane tanks may be used while buildings are under construction for the purpose of heating the interior of the building. (Ord. 00-08-23)
Notwithstanding the foregoing, the owner of a single parcel of property, consisting of more than one hundred (100) acres, shall be allowed to provide for the aboveground tank storage of diesel fuel, in a quantity of less than eight hundred (800) gallons, for use with an emergency backup generator, with a minimum of a two hundred kilowatt (200kW) rating, using integral fuel tanks that are a part of the generator, provided any such generator, including the integral fuel tank, shall not be located less than five hundred feet (500') from any property line for said single parcel of property. Notwithstanding the foregoing, the owner of a single parcel of property, consisting of more than one hundred (100) acres, shall be allowed to provide for the aboveground tank storage of diesel fuel and unleaded gasoline, in a combined quantity of less than three thousand (3,000) gallons, for use in various vehicles and other machinery that uses these types of fuels, conforming to all Federal and State environmental regulations, State Fire Marshal regulations and National Fire Protection Association standards, provided any such aboveground fuel storage tanks, shall not be located less than two hundred twenty five feet (225') from any property line for said single parcel of property.
