A. A fire prevention bureau is hereby established for the purpose of inspecting all buildings, except for one- and two-family dwellings, and for enforcing this chapter. The chief of the fire prevention bureau shall be the fire chief of the village. The chief of the fire prevention bureau may appoint inspectors for the purpose of carrying out the inspection and enforcement provision of this chapter.
B. All buildings, except one- and two-family dwellings shall be inspected annually by the chief of the fire prevention bureau or his/her designee(s). All inspections shall be conducted according to an established monthly inspection schedule. Buildings having a new occupancy shall be inspected prior to the occupancy being granted, regardless of the regularly scheduled period. As occupancies change and new buildings are constructed, they shall be added to the monthly inspection schedule according to their occupancy type.
C. The chief of the fire prevention bureau or his/her designee(s), shall submit plan reviews and inspection reports to the village's community development director/building commissioner for inclusion as part of the building permitting process.
