There is hereby created the office of Electrical Inspector for the city. Such inspector shall be an electrical engineer or a person who is familiar with inside electrical construction, also familiar with the National Electric Code as approved by the American Insurance Association and the application of the code requirements. The Electrical Inspector shall furnish the city with a surety bond in the sum of $1,000 as a guarantee for the faithful performance of his duties, and that all monies collected by him will be deposited with the City Treasurer at least once each month, for which he shall receive a receipt from the City Treasurer. The Electrical Inspector shall be appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council and shall receive such salary as the Council may determine, and shall hold office until his successor has been appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council.
