(a) The Police Chief of this City need not be a resident of the City at the time of his appointment but shall become a resident thereof within ninety days after his appointment. Failure to become a resident within the time specified herein shall be grounds for immediate removal from such position.
(b) This section shall not apply to the Chief of Police in such position at the time of enactment of this section, but shall apply to any and all appointments to these positions, subsequent to the passage and approval of this section.
