Any suit brought against any officer or employee of the City because of any act performed by him in the enforcement of any provisions of building codes enforced by the Circleville Building Department shall be defended by the Director of Law or the Attorney designated by the City's liability insurance carrier until the final determination of the proceedings therein. The City shall save such officer or employee harmless from personal liability unless such employee acts outside the scope of his/her authority or is reckless in that regard for any acts of ordinary negligence.
