(a) The water supply serving the public swimming pool and all plumbing fixtures shall be adequate and of safe sanitary quality.
(b) The sewerage system shall be adequate to serve the facility and there shall be no direct physical connection between the sewerage system and any drain from the swimming pool or recirculation system.
(c) Swimming pools and all appurtenances thereto shall be constructed of materials which are inert, nontoxic to man and impervious; which can withstand the design stresses; and which will provide a tight tank with a smooth and easily cleanable surface or to which a smooth, easily cleanable surface finish can be applied, and which may be finished in a light color.
(d) The shape of any swimming pool shall be such that the circulation of the pool water and the control of swimmers' safety are not impaired.
(e) The depth of the water shall be plainly marked on the edge of the deck or walk next to the swimming pool, at maximum and minimum points, at the points of break between the deep and shallow portions and at intermediate one-foot increments of depth. Depth markers shall be in numerals of four inches minimum height.
(f) All swimming pools shall be provided with an outlet at the deepest point to permit the pool to be emptied. Openings must be covered by a proper grating which is not readily removable by bathers. Inlets shall be located to produce uniform circulation of water and to facilitate the maintenance of uniform disinfectant residual throughout the entire swimming pool.
(g) Overflow gutters or skimmers shall be required on all swimming pools to provide proper skimming and recirculation and to handle displacement water.
(h) A recirculation system consisting of pumps, piping, hair and lint strainers, filters, water conditioning equipment, disinfection equipment and other necessary equipment shall be provided which will adequately clarify and disinfect the swimming pool water. All such equipment shall meet the approval of the Board of Health.
(i) A rate-of-flow indicator or other device shall be installed and located so that the rate of recirculation and backwash will be indicated.
(j) Adequate safe ladders, recessed treads, stairs and handrails shall be provided as deemed necessary by the Board of Health.
(k) A continuous deck at least five feet wide shall extend completely around the swimming pool. The deck shall be sloped away from the pool and shall have a nonslip surface.
(l) Diving boards shall be so located as to provide safe clearance above the board, adequate water depth and safe pool width at the end of the board.
(m) Artificial underwater lighting and artificial area lighting shall be provided where required. All electrical wiring shall conform with applicable local and State codes.
(n) All indoor swimming pools, bathhouses, dressing rooms, shower rooms and toilet spaces shall be adequately ventilated either by natural or mechanical means.
(o) Walls of bathhouses shall be of smooth finished material. Floors shall have a nonslip surface, impervious to moisture and sloped to a drain. Junctions between walls and floors shall be coved. Toilet and shower facilities shall conform with the Ohio Building Code.
