It shall be the duty of all members of the Police Department to perform all duties required by law, and prescribed by the political code of the state, the codes of the town, the orders of the Mayor and the Chief of Police, and the rules and regulations prescribed for by the government, direction, management, and discipline of the police force, and to do all things necessary for the detection, prevention, and suppression of crime, and the enforcement of the criminal and traffic codes of this state and town.
