Upon expiration of the license, if the licensee shall not have acquired an extension or renewal thereof, the licensee may enter upon the streets and public ways of the town for the purposes of removing therefrom any or all of its property and equipment. In so removing said property and equipment, the licensee shall backfill, at its own expense, any excavation occasioned thereby, and shall leave said streets and public ways and places in as good a condition as it was.
