§ 91.01 DEFINITIONS.
   For the purpose of this subchapter, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
   ANIMAL. An animate being not human.
   AT LARGE. Any animal, whether licensed or unlicensed, found off the premises of its owner and not under control of a competent person, restrained within a motor vehicle, or housed in a veterinary hospital or kennel.
   DANGEROUS ANIMAL. Any animal which is not naturally tame or gentle, but is of a wild nature or disposition, and which, because of its size, vicious nature, or other characteristics, would constitute a danger to human life or property if not kept or maintained in a safe manner, or in secure quarters.
   DOMESTIC ANIMAL. An animal owned or kept for any human purposes.
   HUMANE DESTRUCTION. A method of killing an animal which minimizes the pain and suffering of the animal.
   HUMANE TREATMENT. The provisions of adequate food, water, shelter, and necessary veterinary attention for impounded animals.
   IMPOUND. The holding of an animal in a specific place pending claim by its owner or other disposition.
   OWNER. A person who keeps or holds an animal as personal property.
   PET. An animal owned or kept for other than agricultural purposes.
