For the purpose of this subchapter the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
AVAILABILITY FEE. A payment required for the privilege of connecting a unit, directly or indirectly to the town's sewage collection system, to be paid in accordance with this subchapter.
CONNECTION SPUR SERVICE. Connection from the sewer to the property line of a user for the purpose of accepting the sewage effluent of a customer.
DEVELOPER. The entity developing, owning or selling the property to be served.
EQUIVALENT DWELLING UNIT REVENUE. The anticipated monthly revenue from the potential customer divided by the average monthly charge to single-family dwelling units.
INTERCEPTOR SEWER. A sewer line installed, usually in a roadway, street or easement, to collect from lateral sewers (or in some cases service lines) and transport sewage to treatment facilities; not principally designed for collection of sewage from individual customers.
LATERAL SEWER. A sanitary sewer, usually in a roadway, street, alley or easement, collecting from service lines and leading to an interceptor sewer.
OVERSIZING COSTS. The costs of oversizing sewers or other facilities in anticipation of the need to serve future customers.
SERVICE AREA. The area to be served by the proposed plant. Such area will usually include the drainage area permitting use of gravity sewers.
SERVICE LINE. The customer's line running from the structure on the premises to the lateral (or in some cases an interceptor) sewer.
TAP CHARGE. A charge made by the town for the cost to it of: tapping into an interceptor or lateral sewer; constructing a connection spur; or replacing pavement and/or the inspection and review of the actual tap. It may also cover any other cost to the town in connection with a connection spur.
