2.28.020: MEMBERSHIP; TERMS OF OFFICE:
   A.   The planning commission shall consist of seven (7) members to be appointed by the mayor with the consent and approval of the council.
   B.   The seven (7) seats for the commission shall be designated as seats 1 through 7. Seats 1 and 2 shall have initial terms of three (3) years and then, upon the expiration of those initial terms, shall have terms of four (4) years. Seats 3 and 4 shall have terms of four (4) years. Seats 5 and 6 shall have terms of four (4) years, but the terms in existence as of this date shall be extended by one year to allow for the orderly rotation of offices. Seat 7 shall have a term of four (4) years, which term shall not take effect until the expiration of the existing term. The application of this system shall be affirmed by resolution of the mayor and council.
   C.   No person shall serve more than two (2) full consecutive terms without the specific concurrence of two-thirds (2/3) of the council, adopted by motion and recorded in the minutes. Vacancies occurring otherwise and through the expiration of term shall be filled in the same manner as the original appointment.
   D.   Two (2) members of the commission may be nonresidents of the city of Chubbuck who reside within two (2) miles of the city limits; other members shall be residents of the city.
   E.   Members shall be selected without regard to political affiliations, and each shall be reimbursed for each month of service in an amount to be set from time to time by resolution of the city council. The commission shall elect its own chairman annually and may create and fill such other offices as it may determine necessary.
   F.   The mayor may extend the term of a commission member for a period of up to nine (9) months. (Ord. 623 § 1, 2006; amd. Ord. 837, 9-7-2021)
