(A) It shall be the duty of the designated Council member to enforce this chapter. Said designated Council member shall be appointed by the Mayor with the approval of the Council. The City Council may appoint a Building Official with the approval of the Council in the same manner as other city employees are appointed and subject to any general provisions affecting such employees.
(B) Any person, firm or corporation who violates, disobeys, omits, neglects or refuses to comply with or who resists the enforcement of any of the provisions of this chapter shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and shall be fined not less than $25, nor more than $750, or imprisoned for not to exceed one month, or both, for each offense. Each day that a violation is permitted to exist shall constitute a separate offense.
(C) In case any building or structure is erected, constructed, reconstructed, altered, repaired, converted or maintained or any building, structure or land is used in violation of this chapter, the city, in addition to other remedies, may institute any appropriate action or proceedings to prevent such unlawful erection, maintenance or use to restrain, correct or abate such violation, to prevent the occupancy of said building, structure or land, or to prevent any illegal act, conduct, business or use in or about such premises.
