A. Railroad freight cars, box cars, cargo containers, and other large transportable metal containers of similar size shall not be allowed in the city of Chinook as storage units or garages or for any other purpose.
B. Railroad freight cars, box cars, cargo containers, and other large transportable metal containers may be used to facilitate moving into or from a business or residence provided such cars and containers are located wholly upon private property and do not remain within the city for more than thirty calendar days unless an extension is granted by the city upon a showing of hardship and necessity.
C. Nothing contained herein shall restrict interstate commerce or apply to the use of freight cars, box cars, or cargo containers by the Burlington Northern Santa Fe company or its successors in the course of its ordinary business of transporting freight on the rail lines.
D. The general penalty of Chapter 1.20 of this code shall apply to all violations of this section.
In addition, the city may compel the removal of the freight cars and cargo containers from the city at the expense of the individual responsible for bringing the freight cars or containers into the city.
