In lieu of such bond the applicant may file the written certificate of any insurance carrier duly authorized to do business in this state certifying that there is in effect a liability policy insuring the applicant against loss from liability arising from work in connection with the installation, maintenance and repair of gas piping, equipment and appliances, as aforesaid. Such certificate shall show the effective date of such policy, that liability coverage in the minimum amount of two thousand five hundred dollars is in effect covering the applicant and shall be signed for the insurance company by its duly authorized officer or agent.
