Every officer of the city, whether elective or appointive, shall take his or her oath of office, shall give bonds if required, and file the same with the clerk, and the clerk shall file the same with the treasurer, and in the case of the failure of any officer to take the oath and file his or her bond within the time required by the statutes of the state, such office shall be declared vacant.
