114.07 SAFETY-SERVICE DIRECTOR.
   (a)   The Director is an appointed, non-classified position and is under the direct supervision of the Mayor and shall serve at the pleasure of the Mayor. The Director is responsible for the administration of Public Safety, Service and Transportation. The Director oversees the administration of the Police and Fire Departments; the maintenance of varied public infrastructure including streets, storm drains and traffic control system, and all City buildings and vehicle maintenance; directs various public services including refuse and recycling collection, and provides public transit services. This Director manages hiring and budgets, serves on the Board of Control, develops short and long-range plans, monitors maintenance programs, assists in development and management of grants, and performs other duties as assigned by the Mayor.

   (b)   The Director shall furnish bond in the sum of twenty-five thousand dollars ($25,000).

   (c)   The salary of the Director shall be an amount to be determined by the Mayor with the approval of Council. The Director shall be entitled to all fringe and non-economic benefits available by law to unclassified employees and shall receive pension pick-up.
