The following shall be a yield sign controlled street intersection. When the following yield sign has been erected, it shall control traffic at the intersection, and every driver of a vehicle facing such yield sign and approaching the same shall yield at such yield sign before entering such intersection except when directed to proceed by a police officer or a traffic control signal. The driver of a vehicle shall yield the right-of-way to all vehicles approaching the intersection from either direction on the through street which are approaching so closely as to constitute an immediate hazard, but the driver having so yielded may proceed. The drivers of all other vehicles approaching the intersection on the through street from a direction in which no yield is required shall yield the right-of-way to vehicles so proceeding into or across the through street or into the intersection at the entrance at which drivers are not required to yield.
