After application is made, the Chief of Police shall inspect the equipment of the applicant for compliance with the standards and specifications as set out in this chapter. The Chief of Police shall notify all applicants complying with the provisions of this chapter that their name has been placed on the approval list. Applicants not complying with provisions of this chapter shall be notified in writing of the reasons for the rejection of the application.
