For the purpose of this chapter the following words and phrases shall have the following meanings ascribed to them respectively.
(A)
AIR CONTAMINANT. Particulate matter, dust, fumes, gas, mist, smoke, vapor, odorous substances, or any combination thereof.
(B)
AIR CONTAMINANT SOURCE. Each separate operation or activity that results or may result in the emission of any air contaminant.
(C)
AIR POLLUTION. The presence in the ambient air of one or more air contaminants or any combination thereof in sufficient quantity and of such characteristics and duration as is or may be injurious to human health or welfare, plant or animal life, or property, or unreasonably interferes with the comfortable enjoyment of life or property.
(D)
AMBIENT AIR. That portion of the atmosphere outside of buildings and other enclosures, stacks, or ducts that surround human, plant, or animal life, or property.
(E)
EMIT or EMISSION. The release either directly or indirectly into the ambient air of an air contaminant.
(F)
EMISSION LIMITATION and EMISSION STANDARD. A requirement that limits the quantity, rate, or concentration of emissions of air contaminants, including any requirement relating to the operation or maintenance of an air contaminant source.
