(A) Any police officer of the city may impound any: stolen, abandoned, or unroadworthy vehicle; any vehicle which has been parked or driven on any city property in violation of §§ 71.15 through 71.20; any other vehicle parked at a place where parking is prohibited or which has been parked for more than one hour in excess of the time allowed for parking in any place, or which is involved in an accident; or which is driven by a person under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or opiates; or which is in the possession of any person who has been physically arrested; or which has been involved in 2 or more violations of traffic ordinances for which citation tags have been issued and not presented as required by Cheviot ordinance.
(B) The authority to impound any vehicle described herein shall also apply and pertain to off-street parking areas, owned by the city, or maintained, operated, or supervised by the city, by agreement, or where authority to enforce parking restrictions has been given to, and accepted by the city. However, adequate signs shall be erected in such off-street parking areas, stating that, for violation of parking regulations thereon, vehicles may be towed away and impounded by the city, and any person desiring to redeem the vehicle shall be subject to towing and other charges as provided herein.
