The safety-service director shall cause lines or marks to be placed on the curb or on the street about or alongside of each parking meter to designate the parking space for which the meter is to be used. Each vehicle parking alongside of or next to any parking meter shall park within the lines or markings so established. It shall be unlawful to park any vehicle across any such line or mark, or to park the vehicle in such way that the same shall not be within the area so designated by the lines or markings, unless the vehicle be too large to be confined in one space.
