§ 72.72 STREET SALES.
   (A)   No person other than a licensed hand peddler shall demonstrate, sell, or offer for sale any goods, wares, or merchandise from any vehicle, or from any box, basket, bag, or other container, upon the highways of the city, except in authorized market stands not closer than 20 feet to intersections elsewhere than at alleys. It shall be unlawful for any person other than a licensed peddler selling from a vehicle, to stand or go upon a roadway for the purpose of there demonstrating, selling, or offering for sale any goods, wares, newspapers, or merchandise, or of distributing or handing out handbills, cards, leaflets, samples of merchandise, or other similar items. It shall be unlawful for any person, whether licensed as a peddler or not, to demonstrate, sell, or offer for sale, upon any highway within a congested or closely built-up portion of the city, except at authorized market stands, any goods, wares, or merchandise, other than newspapers.
   (B)   Nothing herein shall be construed to prohibit the distribution of noncommercial handbills, cards, leaflets, or other literature on sidewalks.
