§ 33.04 RATE CHARGED FOR LIFE SQUAD RUNS.
   (A)   There is hereby established, for all persons, residents and non-residents alike, a rate of $650 for a basic life squad run made by the Cheviot Fire Department within the city limits of Cheviot which run requires medical service transportation. There shall be a charge of $750 if the run requires paramedic monitoring or an intravenous line. There shall be a charge of $850 for advanced life support services, which include drug therapy, intubation, or cardiac resuscitation. In addition to the above charges, there shall be charged $14 for each mile traveled by the life squad in making the emergency run. The charge for residents and non-residents who are receiving Medicare benefits shall be the amount equal to the authorized Medicare reimbursement rate for basic and advanced life support services, as such rate has been established for the City of Cheviot under Title XVIII of the Social Security Act, 32 U.S.C.A., as amended.
   (B)   The rate established in division (A) above shall also apply to mutual aid runs made by the Cheviot Fire Department outside of the Cheviot city limits.
   (C)   The billing rate established in division (A) above shall be submitted to the insurance provider of the person transported. If that person is a resident of the City of Cheviot and has no applicable insurance coverage, or if the person’s insurance carrier cannot be required to provide payment for the services, no bill is to be sent to that person. Billing is to be made only to the extent of a resident’s insurance coverage. If the person transported is not a resident of the City of Cheviot, direct billing to that person is authorized, if the costs are not covered by insurance.
   (D)   The City of Cheviot shall also charge user fees for the delivery of emergency fire department services. The rate of the user fees shall be that which is the usual, customary, and reasonable cost for the services, and may fluctuate accordingly. The user fees shall be filed to the motor vehicle insurance representing the cost of the claim for damages of the vehicles, property, or injuries. The claim costs shall be filed to the insurance company of the owner of a vehicle, owner of property, or responsible parties. The Cheviot Fire Department and City Administration shall execute any documents necessary to effectuate the collection of fees.
