§ 33.01 GENERAL DUTIES OF POLICE AND FIRE DEPARTMENTS.
   (A)   Police force. The police force shall preserve the peace, protect persons and property, and obey and enforce all ordinances of council and all criminal laws of the state and the United States.
   (B)   Fire department. The fire department shall protect the lives and property of the people in case of fire, and both the police and fire departments shall perform such other duties, not inconsistent herewith, as council by ordinance prescribes.
