5-2-5: DUTIES OF FIRE CHIEF AND ASSISTANT:
The chief of the fire department shall have the sole command and control over all persons connected with the fire department, shall have charge of and be responsible for all apparatus which the town furnished the fire department and see that they are at all times ready for use in the extinguishing of fires. The assistant chief shall aid the chief in the work of the department and in his absence shall perform his duties. (1969 Code §2.16.070)
