8-4-2: WATER MAIN EXTENSIONS:
Any property owner or developer desiring to extend the public water main for the benefit of his property may do so at his own expense. Minimum main size shall be four inches (4") in diameter or larger where required by the master plan on file with the City Clerk or where required by the future growth in the vicinity of the extension. All construction shall be in accordance with the Standard Specifications for Water and Sewer Main Construction in Illinois, 2nd edition. Pipe to be used shall be Class 150 cast iron or one hundred (100) psi PVC pipe conforming to accepted current standards of ASTM 1784 (for schedule 40, 80 and 160 pipe), ASTM 2241 (SDR-DR) and No. 14 of the Sanitation Foundation (NSF) and be appropriately marked as specified by the foundation. Minimum acceptable pipe is one having standard dimension ratio of 21 (SDR-21) and Type 1 Grade 1 materials with a hydrostatic design stress of two thousand (2,000) psi for water at twenty three degrees Celsius (23°C) for a working pressure of two hundred (200) psi. Joints shall be of the rubber gasket type. All construction shall be subject to the inspection of the Superintendent or other designated representative. (Ord. 147, 1980)
