7-2-1: PLANTING AND REMOVAL REQUIREMENTS:
   A.   Planting: It is unlawful to plant any tree or bush in any public street or parkway or other public place without having secured a permit therefor. Applications for such permits shall be made to the City Clerk and referred by him to the Commissioner of Streets and Public Improvements before issuance. All trees and shrubs so planted shall be placed subject to the direction and the approval of the Commissioner of Streets and Public Improvements. (1964 Code § 144; amd. 2000 Code)
   B.   Removal: It is unlawful to remove or cut down any tree or shrub in any such public place without having obtained a permit therefor. Applications for such permits shall be made to the City Clerk and shall be referred to and approved by the Commissioner of Streets and Public Improvements before issuance.    C.   Types Of Trees Allowed: The following trees only are allowed for planting in any public street, parkway or other public place: ash, locust, linden, ornamental pear, ornamental crab, maple (excluding sugar) and oak. (2000 Code)
