5-5-2: REGULATION:
   A.   All bee colonies are to be kept in inspectible type hives with removable combs, which shall be kept in a sound and usable condition.
   B.   No more than four (4) hives including any nucleus shall be kept on any one parcel of land.
   C.   Each such nucleus colony shall be disposed of or combined with an authorized colony within thirty (30) days after the date it is acquired.
   D.   Each apiary, hive, or nucleus shall be offset at minimum twenty feet (20') from any street or alley.
   E.   All honeybee hives shall be registered with the Illinois department of agriculture as required by state law.
   F.   Adequate techniques, such as requeening, in handling bees, and adequate space in a hive shall be maintained to prevent unprovoked stinging ten feet (10') or more from the hive.
   G.   The existence of a nest of wild bees of any type, not cultivated by any person and whose honey is not harvested by any person, shall not constitute a violation of this chapter. (Ord. 669, 7-28-2014)
