5-2-5-3: INJURING PUBLIC PROPERTY:
It is unlawful to injure, mar, disfigure, deface or interfere with any property belonging to the city, including specifically, but not limited to, all decorative or ornamental street lighting fixtures, and any building murals owned or created under the authority of or on or adjoining any city property, without prior authority from the city council. Any person violating the provisions of this section shall be fined not less than one thousand dollars ($1,000.00) for each offense. Nothing in this section shall be deemed to replace or be in lieu of any prosecution for criminal damage to property or violation of any other provisions of the Illinois criminal code.
