For the purpose of this subchapter the following definitions shall apply, unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
INTERESTED PARTY. Emergency services, such as police, fire or any other emergency services, the owner, occupant, Department of Public Safety, public utilities or any other governmental agency.
PREMISES. Any lot or parcel of land owned by any person, firm, corporation or association, public or private, improved with buildings, whether occupied or not and to which a street or road number has been assigned.
STREET OR ROAD NAMES. Any official name as recognized by governmental authority and no such named street or road shall be changed without the approval of the city and/or the Cheboygan County Road Commission in cases of joint jurisdiction over roads between the city and the County Road Commission.
STREET NUMBER or ROAD NUMBER. Any series of numbers assigned by the city or the entity responsible for the assignment of such numbers from time to time for the purpose of identification of a particular premises location. All premises shall be assigned a property identification number by the city or by an entity designated by the City Council from time to time. The identification numbers shall be the basis for location on the Geographic Identification System (GIS) maps and shall be cross-indexed to the owner of the property and the available telephone numbers. The basic information required for a Central Emergency Response System (911) is to be provided by the city.
