Any rental unit that is inspected by the Department of Housing and Urban Development, the Federal Housing Administration, the Farmers Home Administration or the Michigan State Housing Development Authority on a regular basis shall be exempt from the requirements of this subchapter. However, nothing in this subchapter shall relieve any owner of a rental unit from complying with federal, state or local laws, whether or not such laws contain similar provisions to those contained in this subchapter.
