§ 30.35  ELECTION OF MAYOR.
   (A)   Nomination. Candidates for the office of Mayor shall file nominating petitions in conformity with the provisions governing nominating petitions for Councilman.

   (B)   Qualifications. Any person qualified under the Charter and this code to be a candidate for the office of Councilman shall be qualified for the office of Mayor.

   (C)   Time of election. The Mayor shall be elected at each biennial municipal election at which Councilmen are elected.

   (D)   Election. At each biennial municipal election at which Councilmen are elected, there shall be two separate ballots as follows:
      (1)   The first ballot shall contain the names of those candidates for the position of Councilman from which the required number of Councilmen shall be elected;
      (2)   The second ballot shall contain the names of those candidates for the position of Mayor from which one candidate shall be elected Mayor. The Mayor shall also be a Councilman.

   (E)   Councilman as candidate for Mayor. Any Councilman who shall desire to be an eligible candidate for the office of Mayor shall resign from his position on the Council not later than 12:00 noon on the sixth Saturday prior to the date of the biennial municipal election, effective at 12:01 p.m. on the Monday following the regular city election.
