A. Permit Required: It shall be unlawful to construct any building or structure in the Village where the cost of such construction exceeds one hundred dollars ($100.00) or to alter or remodel any building or structure so as to change the bearing walls, beams, supports or the roof thereof without having first secured a permit therefor, or in violation of the terms of such permit, or in violation of the terms of this chapter. B. Application For Permit: Before proceeding with the erection, enlargement, alteration or repair of any building within the corporate limits of the Village, an application shall be first obtained from the building inspector on a blank form to be furnished for that purpose. Every such application for a permit shall describe the land upon which the proposed building or work is to be done by some description that will readily identify and definitely locate the proposed building or work, shall show the proposed use or occupancy of all parts of the building and such other information as the building inspector may require. C. Permit Fees: The fees for building permits are as follows:

If a resident is putting in a pool with a thirty dollar ($30.00) permit fee and a deck is added at the same time, the deck fee shall be at two-thirds (2/3) the cost of the original permit fee of thirty dollars ($30.00) which shall be twenty dollars ($20.00) for a total of fifty dollars ($50.00). If a fence is also added, it shall be at half the cost unless the fence is for the yard as well as for safety, then it shall also be two- thirds (2/3) the cost. (Ord. 03-04, 4-7-2003)
D. Required Plans:
1. No permit shall be issued for the construction of any building or structure, or for remodeling or repairing affecting bearing walls, roof other than resurfacing, or chimneys, or for moving a building onto a premises in the Village unless the application is accompanied by a plat or sketch of the proposed location showing lot boundaries and by plans and specifications showing the work to be done. Such plans shall bear the seal or signature of a licensed architect. (Ord. 03-10, 9-15-2003)
2. It shall be unlawful to erase, alter or modify any lines, figures or coloring contained upon such drawings or specifications so certified by the building inspector (unless the engineer needs to be involved) unless supplemented plans are filed therewith for reference. E. Issuance Or Denial Of Permit: When application for permit made by the owner or agent has been made with the building inspector, the building inspector shall issue a permit after the payment of fees and shall place such application on file; provided, that no permit shall be issued to any person, firm or corporation to erect, construct, add to, enlarge, improve, alter, convert, or extend any building or structure where the proposed use thereof is inconsistent with, contrary to, or violation of any ordinance of the Village of Chebanse or law of the State of Illinois. F. Invalidity Of Permit: No permit shall be valid unless work is commenced within six (6) months from the date of its issuance. (1990 Code § 14.125)
G. Suspension Or Revocation Of Permit: Any permit issued hereunder may be suspended or revoked by the Village President, upon the recommendation of the building inspector, for violation of any of the provisions of this chapter. (1990 Code § 14.127)
