§ 93.11 FIRE HYDRANTS.
   (A)   The Fire Marshal and/or his or her authorized representative shall participate in the plan review of all water line extensions within the county and make recommendations as to water main size and fire hydrant location.
   (B)   Proposed water mains of six inches or larger in diameter shall be provided with fire hydrants spaced at a distance of no more than 1,000 feet on center in all areas other than developments and/or subdivisions. Fire hydrants shall be placed at a maximum distance of 500 feet on center in proposed developments and/or subdivisions.
   (C)   Where proposed water main extensions (six inches or larger) are extended to existing developments and/or subdivisions a minimum of one fire hydrant shall be provided within 1,000 feet of the developments and/or subdivisions. In the determination of any fire hydrant location, consideration shall be given to proposed population density, geography and locations of roads and intersections.
   (D)   All proposed water main extensions of six inches or larger shall be reviewed by the County Public Works Director and the County Fire Marshal on a case by case basis. The Fire Marshal's Office shall be advised of water system flow testing and be provided documentation of the results of the testing.
   (E)   Where a portion of a commercial facility or building is hereafter constructed or moved into or within the jurisdiction is more than 400 feet from a hydrant, on a fire apparatus access road, as measured by an approved route around the exterior of the facility or building, on-site fire hydrants and mains shall be required by the Code Official. For Group R-3 and Group U occupancies, the distance requirement shall be 600 feet. For buildings equipped with an approved automatic sprinkler system installed in accordance with Chapter 9 of the State Fire Prevention Code of the State Building Code (most current edition), the distance requirement shall be 600 feet.
