(A) Title. This chapter shall be known and may be cited as the Solid Waste Management Chapter of Chatham County, North Carolina.
(B) Preamble. The County Board of Commissioners is authorized by the General Statutes of the state to enact an ordinance regulating solid waste collection, storage and transportation, disposal as well as management of recyclables within the county.
(C) Purpose. The purpose of this chapter is to promote the public safety, health and welfare of the citizens of the county by regulating the management of solid waste and recycling in the county.
(D) Authority. Under provisions pursuant to G.S. §§ 153A-121 and 153A-136, the county hereby exercises its authority to enact these regulations.
