For the purpose of this chapter, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
APPLIANCES. Washers, dryers, dishwashers, cooking units, or any other mechanical apparatus containing electronic circuitry. This does not include refrigeration units or any other item no longer accepted for disposal at the landfill.
APPROVED CONTAINER. A container for solid waste which is approved by the Board of Public Works and Safety for use by a customer of the Sanitation Department for containing and disposal of solid waste.
ASHES. Residue from burning, whether produced by fires used for cooking, heating, fireplaces, or any other fire.
CONSTRUCTION WASTE. New or used construction materials remaining or resulting from construction or demolition activities, intended to be discarded. This definition shall include such materials generated by new residential construction as well as such materials generated by the remodel or renovation of an existing structure.
CUSTOMER. A person utilizing the services of the Sanitation Department. All single-family, duplex, and three-plex residential facilities are entitled to be customers of the Sanitation Department. All other persons or entities desiring to be customers of the Sanitation Department must obtain approval from the Board of Public Works and Safety.
LANDFILL. The Clark-Floyd Sanitary Landfill or any other such landfill/solid waste disposal facility as may be utilized by the Sanitation Department for the disposal of solid waste.
REFRIGERATION UNIT. Any device containing or previously designed to use Freon or any other gaseous refrigerant to cool or heat.
RELOCATION WASTE. Solid waste exceeding the amount that can be placed in an approved container, generated as the result of a change in occupancy of a residential property.
SOLID WASTE. Ashes, garbage, refuse, trash, rubbish and/or debris having little or no value of which the owner intends to dispose, not including yard waste, which shall be disposed of separately.
YARD WASTE. Cut or dead organic materials such as grass clippings, plant material, shrubs, leaves, and similar materials. Limbs are not included in the definition of yard waste.
