Modifications to the text of the international property maintenance code, 2009, are as follows:
Section 101.1 Insert city of Charleston for (name of jurisdiction).
Section 103.5 is deleted, with no substitution.
Section 106.3 Prosecution Of Violation is deleted with no substitution.
Section 106.4 Violation Penalties is hereby deleted and the following inserted in lieu thereof:
Section 106.4 Violation Penalties: Any person, firm or corporation, who shall violate any provision of this code, shall, upon conviction thereof be subject to a fine of not less than fifty dollars ($50.00) and not more than seven hundred fifty dollars ($750.00) at the discretion of the court. Each day that a violation continues after due notice has been given, in accordance with the terms and provisions hereof shall be deemed a separate offense.
Section 304.14 Insect Screens: Insert April 1 (date) to November 1 (date).
Section 404.4.1 Room Area is hereby deleted and the following inserted in lieu thereof:
Section 404.4.1 Room Area. Every living room shall contain at least 120 square feet (11.2m2) and every bedroom occupied by one person shall contain at least 70 square feet (6.5m2) of floor area, and every bedroom occupied by more than one person shall contain at least 50 square feet (4.6m2) of floor area for each occupant thereof.
Section 404.5 Overcrowding is hereby deleted and the following inserted in lieu thereof:
Section 404.5 Overcrowding. Dwelling units shall not be occupied by more than permitted by the minimum area requirements of table 404.5

Section 404.5.1 A new section 404.5.1 shall be inserted as follows:
Section 404.5.1 Sleeping Area. The minimum occupancy area required by table 404.5 shall not be included as a sleeping area in determining the minimum occupancy area for sleeping purposes. All sleeping areas shall comply with section 404.4.
Section 404.5.2 A new section 404.5.2 shall be inserted as follows:
Section 404.5.2 Combined Spaces. Combined living room and dining room spaces shall comply with the requirements of table 404.5 if the total area is equal to that required for separate rooms and if the space is located so as to function as a combination living room/dining room.
Section 602.3 Heat Supply: Insert October 1 (date) to May 1 (date).
Section 602.4 Occupiable Work Spaces: Insert October 1 (date) to May 1 (date).
Chapter 8 Referenced Standards:
Delete ICC electrical code and insert National Electric Code, 2020, NFPA 70, for electrical code.
Delete international plumbing code and insert current Illinois state plumbing code.
Delete international zoning code and insert city of Charleston unified development code.
