All materials used to construct water mains and water services and to make water taps must comply with the following standards and applicable federal, state and local codes and ordinances:
A. Water main piping shall be ductile iron ASTM A 377/79, ANSI C600/80, WW/P/421C/1967, and AWWA C151/76, unless alternate materials are approved by the city engineer on a case by case basis.
B. Fire hydrants shall be Mueller Centurion, Kennedy Guardian or approved equal.
C. Meter setters, three-fourths inch (3/4") and one inch (1") sizes, shall be Mueller, Ford or approved equal with approved double check backflow preventer.
D. Meter setters, one and one-half inch (11/2") and two inch (2") sizes, shall be Mueller, Ford or approved equal.
E. Meters shall be Rockwell; type to be determined by city staff.
F. Meter pits shall be Sono-Loc or approved equal.
G. Meter pit collars and lids shall be Ford, Mueller, Tyler or approved equal, sized so as to allow servicing and removal of meters and valves located in the meter pits.
H. Tapping saddles shall be double strap brass saddle with bronze bolts as approved by utility coordinator/superintendent. Tapping saddles for nonductile iron piping shall be as approved by the utility coordinator/superintendent.
I. Corporation stops shall be Ford, Mueller or approved equal.
J. Fittings for water main construction shall be ductile iron, Tyler or approved equal.
K. Tapping sleeves shall have end gaskets and flanges, Mueller, H613 or approved equal.
L. Brass fittings shall be Ford, Mueller or approved equal.
M. Any material not specifically listed in this section shall be approved by the city engineer or utility coordinator/superintendent prior to installation. (Ord. 89-O-1, 1-17-1989; amd. 1991 Code)
