2-3-1: COMMISSION CREATED; DUTIES:
The Charleston tree commission is hereby established with the following functions and duties:
   A.   The tree commission shall appoint a chairperson, meet and adopt rules of procedure for regular and special meetings as deemed necessary by the commission.
   B.   The tree commission shall advise and consult the city council on any and all matters pertaining to trees located within the city. Said advice and recommendation shall include, but not be limited to:
      1.   Recommending modifications or creation of new ordinances regulating and protecting trees;
      2.   Drafting policy concerning the selection, planting, maintenance and removal of city trees;
      3.   The establishment of educational and informational programs for the purpose of increasing public awareness of city trees; and
      4.   Developing a program for optimizing the tree, shrub and other plant resources within the city. (Ord. 93-O-24, 4-20-1993; amd. Ord. 96-O-64, 12-17-1996, eff. 5-6-1997)
