It shall be the duty of the Chief of Police or his duly authorized agent, and they are authorized and empowered to inspect and examine all food or drink being offered for sale by means of such automatic vending machine for the purpose of ascertaining whether the laws of the state and of the village in relation to sales from said vending machines are complied with and that said food and drink so offered for sale has been kept fresh, clean and wholesome and it shall be the duty of all persons, firms or corporations operating said vending machines upon the demand of the Chief of Police or his duly authorized agent to furnish him for his inspection samples of all said food and drink, which samples may be analyzed by or under the direction of said Chief of Police or Will County Health Department and a record of such analysis shall be made and kept in his office for the inspection of the public.
