§ 31.70 APPOINTMENT; DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES.
   The Village Attorney shall be appointed by the Village President with the advice and consent of the Village Board of Trustees as provided by statute at a fee fixed by resolution and shall hold office until his successor is appointed and qualified. He shall prosecute and defend all suits at law or in equity when the village is a party or interested therein or against or by any official on behalf of the village whenever authorized to do so by the Corporate Authorities, provided that in all suits or proceedings before courts or commissions, he may be paid a negotiated fee for same, commensurate with and as agreed with the Corporate Authorities. He shall, when requested, render advice on all legal questions arising concerning the Village or its officers or employees and, upon request, shall reduce and submit the same in writing. He shall attend meetings of the Corporate Authorities as required.
